The water quality of the so-called recirculation systems is not least determines by the speed at which the accumulated dirt (fish excrement, plant parts, etc.) will be removed permanently from the system. The remaining dirt in the water-circulation polluted the water on one side by redissolution (phosphate, ammonium, etc.) and secondly by weakening the nitrification performance (reduction or modification of ammonium and nitrite). There is hardly any similar filter in which the collecting of the dirt including disposal is faster than with the drum filter technology. Depending on the season and the dirt volume in the pond there are only 5-30 minutes between two flushing intervals.
